I would like to apoligize to you, Jeremiah for not returning your phone call. Unfortunatly for me my bedtime came before you called by jut about 30 minutes. I get up at at 230am to go to work so I was trying to get my 5 or 6 hours in.

I missed you guys this week. Do you not record every week? Just saw that is was the last show that was on last night. If you could also tell me when you folks tape, I would love it, of course if you tw fine gentelman would allow it, if I could sit in while you tape. You did say that the lead up to the actuall taping is when a good amount of solid ideas and conversing takes place.

I listened to your "Paleo Radio" today. I'll talk about the Enquirer post. I have always found our newspaper to be much more on the conservative side than anything else. So I would find it to be wuite a bit of a suprise for them to openly endorse, or give a vailed endorsment of a clearly liberal canidate. I much admit, being a registered democrat, I am most displeased with my party's choice for this race. And I have seen this trend for quite a while now. They like to send the same losers over and over again to once again, LOSE. Along with Ms. Reinier (please forgive my spelling) they have had Lynn Haley. Both of which have run before and lost before. I almost dont think that they believe they can win in this district. I think that is untrue. They just need to put more focus and thought into both the canidate selection and a strong platform on which to run. As I have stated previously, I do not believe this area is as conserative as you folks do. But then again, this area is only as conservative or as liberal as the people who vote. For the last serveral years, we the conservative side has been the most vocal and active in getting those positions that make the rules and drive thier agenda. As my father has always said, "He who makes the rules, wins". I just think that the right has come to this realization and has embraced it.
Please do not confuse me for one of those straight party ticket voters either. I think there are to many people who take the easy way out and dont do the research to come up with an informed decision and just connect the lines across the top if there ballot. I just wish my chosen party will wake up and change, if it ever wants to be in charge again. Unfortunatly, I dont see that happening for some time and by that point the party will have lost any and all influence in this are.

Well guys that is all I have to say for now. Give me a ring or drop me an e mail anyime that you like.

I just watched the show for the first time, and I was impressed. The chair breaking at the end was handled nicely. I thought your handling of the 15-40 year sentence given to Metzger was a bit juvenile. There are mitigating circumstances when determining a sentence. That being said I would execute someone personally if they hurt someone in my family, so I understand your sentiments anyway. Prior Navy? Sorry to hear that. I guess we all can't be Marines, lol. Kidding as you did your bit for God and country so I respect that.

Good luck with your show. I hope to catch it again sometime, this time was pure luck as comcast played with the stations.

1st Lt. T.J. Allred USMC(Ret.) I sign it that way not out of trying to impress someone, but so that I don't get confused with my oldest son. He is his own person, and I once wrote a letter to the editor that he did not agree with, and his friends thought it was him...so I try to keep it straight.

Thank you for your comments! The chair breaking! haha Bob wanted to use the director style chairs, and I thought they did not look very sturdy. He assured me there would be no problem. Well, it turns out that my worries were justified. I guess it could have been much worse. I could have fallen to the floor! That would have been much harder to recover from. So I have to count my blessings that the seating only shifted.

Concerning the Metzger case: I understand that there are various circumstances involved in determining punishment for any specific crime. My contention though was with how judges determine what is, and what is not, sufficient punishment. The point of my asking whether 4 years was sufficient ought to cause people to at least begin considering how our courts determine one sentence over another. Is it convention? Is it concensus of former rulings? What is the science here? Why 15-40 over 4-8? What standard do they use? How does this dodge the bullet of being deemed arbitrary or relative? These were the questions and concerns underlying my contention.

Sincerely,
Jeremiah "Paleocrat" Bannister

PS- My dad and sister were marines. When considering enlistment, I first went to the Marines. But, as everything played out, I ended up in the Navy. While I was in the Navy I got to meet various marines. Actually, my firearm and self-defense instructors were marines. I was ASF and qualified on an M-60. Good people! They love their country, and serve with great pride. I have all respect for those brave enough to join the marine corps.

Most everything in the criminal justice system is arbitrary. What punishment you get for the same crime depends on your race, your financial stature, your location, your IQ, what the judge had for breakfast, if the victim had value to society, etc...ad infinitum. So, in the Metzger case was there precedence? Was there anything telling the judge that at the minimum 15 years that this kid is going to come out different? I doubt it. Let me think, going into jail a drug user, murderer at the age of 20 or whatever the kid was...spending at least 15 years in the Criminal Justice System...is this kid going to come out better? Fixed? Naaah. He will either become a better criminal, or one of the many faces you see on the evening news. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve the punishment. I am saying the whole system is forked.
